Kirsty is a consultant anaesthetist and chair of the simulation faculty at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). She has a specialist interest in obstetrics, simulation, human factors and patient safety, which led her to join our maternity investigation programme as Clinical Advisor.
She has published several anaesthesia books including ‘Core Topics in Obstetric Anaesthesia’ and ‘Obstetric Decision-Making and Simulation’. She is active in medical education and has been a college tutor, training programme director and an associate director of medical education at MFT.
As a contributor to the Association of Anaesthetists #BeInspired campaign, she’s highlighted the women in anaesthesia who have encouraged her throughout her career with their expertise, dedication, and humanity. Kirsty has also been a council member for the Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association since 2019, where she works with the education and guideline subcommittee.
Kirsty’s contribution at her Trust has been recognised through receiving the MFT Star Award for Quality and Safety in 2021 and the Outstanding Achievement Award at St Mary’s Hospital (part of MFT) in 2017.
She is currently working towards a master’s degree in medical education.
