NHS Resolution is an arm’s length body of the Department of Health and Social Care. They provide expertise to the NHS on resolving concerns and disputes fairly, sharing learning for improvement and preserving resources for patient care.
When we have completed our investigation, we will notify NHS Resolution that the investigation is complete.
NHS Resolution will ask the NHS trust to share a copy of the Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations (MNSI) programme final report with them. The report will be reviewed by NHS Resolution’s internal clinical and legal specialist teams to decide whether the case meets the criteria for an Early Notification Scheme (ENS) investigation and a member of their team will write to you with the outcome of that review.
The Early Notification Scheme is designed to investigate eligibility for financial compensation in certain circumstances where a baby may have suffered a brain injury at birth. The Early Notification Scheme also works with independent organisations, such as MNSI, to identify and share opportunities to learn and improve maternity care.
Find out more about the Early Notification Scheme on the NHS Resolution website.
